A sudden fire blaze at godown at Sowcarpet at the first floor on Misri Complex, a three storey building reported to the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Service control room  around 2.40 PM.  Fire Appliances from High Court, Flower Bazaar, Triplicane and nearby Stations were rushed to the spot with around 30 firemen.

A very dramatic outburst on Narayana Mudali Street in Sowcarpet consumes a 22 year youth on Monday afternoon. An eyewitness Vikram who runs a petty shop on  Reddy Raman street adjoining the building said "when I was having lunch at 1:30 PM; I heard a sudden blast in the building. Firemen faced a tedious job in putting off the fire and water tenders in to the narrow roads where the tricycles and auto rickshaws sidelined in the street.

After an hour of struggling, they put off the fire but the chemicals and ingredients added fuel to the fire. Both the fire fighters and crowd gathered worried about there would be a blast due to chemicals. As the uncontrollable blast spread to second and third floors, the police evacuated the onlookers from shops, streets and houses. After three hours of long battle, the fire was finally put off. The police found the body of the youth and identified as Lokesh, an employee of the unit. The machinery present inside the shop has raised a doubt regarding the legality of the unit. The police handed over this case to the local police for further investigation.

The body of the victim, who is suspected to have died due to suffocation, has sent to post- mortem and the further probe in on.
